AC Shadows Reveals Surprising AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a surprising crossover event that challenges usual predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Disclosed
According to the formal announcement, "A mysterious confrontation leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where whispers of forbidden ceremonies and fearsome transformations resonate through the darkness." The narrative features a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a hidden cult.
The mission focuses on "strange tests and a fearsome foe" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Transformations
The preview showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer concludes with a striking scene showing a character, likely the captive, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Extra Features
Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an exclusive katana alongside multiple objects secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Addition
This release also introduces the game's third free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature skills: Naoe introduces a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Anime Partnerships
This signifies not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime properties. The series formerly included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
