Christantus Uche Fuels Dominant Palace Win at Shelbourne.
Even though embarking on their maiden European campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting at a rapid pace. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding result that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another victory in their upcoming fixture against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal straight entry to the last 16, particularly following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Grasp the Opportunity
This match offered a platform for several Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a well-taken finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second consecutive succession.
The Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season proved outmatched even for a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee injuries.
Control Asserted from the Start
In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.
Midfielder Adam Wharton went close soon after, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the official dismissed the protests.
The formerArsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's shot had struck the post.
The home side were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
